Movie Review 34: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring

Life, both in Man & Earth

Trailer & Review after the jump

"Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring" is a Life Drama Film and was directed by Kim Ki-duk ("The Isle", "3-Iron", & " Samaritan Girl"). It stars Su Oh-yeong ("A Little Monk") as the Old Monk, Kim Young-min ("Address Unknown" & "White: The Melody of the Curse") as the Young-Adult Monk, & Seo Jae-kyung ("Resurrection of the Little Match Girl" & "Welcome to Dongmakgol") as the Boy Monk.

"Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring" is about the life story of a Buddhist Monk from childhood to adulthood, through the seasons, as he learns about the weight of life, the joy of love, & the pain of loss.

It's an interesting story to watch unfold as you gain a great sense of what could be called "simple truths" that sometimes just need to be pointed out. The here and now is so intense that people tend to lose sight of the bigger picture of life. And I think this movie does point it out. It's a movie that is great for self-reflection. This movie was reccomended to me a few odd years back, and I'm glad I got around to it.
